Dr. Carol Benoit received her Master of Arts degree in Psychological Counseling from Nicholls State University in 2003 and her Doctor of Philosophy degree in Counselor Education and Supervision from the University of Holy Cross in New Orleans, Louisiana in 2021. Prior to becoming a counselor, Carol was an occupational therapist for several years, working with clients of all ages with developmental disabilities, brain and spinal cord injuries, orthopedic problems, and mental health problems.

For twenty years Dr. Benoit has provided counseling to a variety of clients ages 3 and up through her private practice located in Houma and New Orleans, Louisiana. She has expertise in treating those with mood and anxiety disorders, trauma, relationship problems, behavior problems, developmental disabilities, traumatic brain injury, and adjustment disorders.

As a board-certified supervisor in Louisiana, Dr. Benoit has supervised graduate students, provisionally licensed counselors, and new counselors. She holds appraisal privilege in Louisiana and is a certified telehealth provider. She also has experience teaching psychology to undergraduate students and currently teaches future counselors at the master’s level.

Dr. Benoit’s scholarly activities have included qualitative research and writing with resulting publications in scholarly journals. Additionally, she presents and provides continuing education for licensed professional counselors at the local, state, regional, and national levels.
