What Is Integrative Counseling?

At NOIC (New Orleans Integrative Counseling) we embrace an approach that is holistic and strengths-based. We recognize that all human beings have multiple dimensions including physical, intellectual, spiritual, psychological, emotional, sexual, social, and cultural. Within these dimensions, work with clients to discover and explore capacities, potentials, and growing edges. Further, we recognize that we are all embedded within intersecting social groups and circumstances which affect us in multiple ways.

To maintain this holistic view that focuses on strengths, we utilize theories that are selected based on the unique needs of our clients. This allows for an approach that is individualized rather than one-size-fits-all.

Some of the theories and approaches we use include:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Theory

  • Interpersonal Theory

  • Contemplative Theory

  • Existential Theory

  • Internal Family Systems Theory

  • Developmental Theory

  • Person Centered Theory

  • Trauma-Based theories

  • Neurobiological Theory

  • Play Therapy
